Loddlenaut

Date: 26.6.9 ┆ Type: Game ┆ Status: almost done

Strangely reminds me of a mix of Astroneer and Diaries of a Spaceport Janitor. It’s been very cute and chill, I’ll pop on youtube videos in the background while playing. Here’s a photo of me and my bestie loddle that I like to drag around with me:

Horror Anthology Comic Shikaku Kureta Ai

Date: 26.6.9 ┆ Type: Manga ┆ Status: ch. 5

Only the first volume is translated right now (I think it’s supposed to be a duology), but it’s been really good. I don’t usually read anthologies but the theme is twisted love + horror which is right up my alley. The first chapter was my least favorite, but all the subsequent chapters are great. The dead hamster chapter, “What Remains”, was the one that sticks with me the most. Like the levels of fucked up dependency and savior complex is intriguing to think about. The other chapter I really liked was “A Rose and a Great Tree”, far more lighthearted compared to the rest, but I'd like to see it serialized.

Witch Hat Atelier

Date: 26.5.16 ┆ Type: Anime ┆ Status: ep 6

I’ve been super excited for this one! It’s been a few years since I’ve read the manga, so I forgot a lot of the details. The anime has been phenomenal so far, I’ve been looking forward to episodes every week. This story has always given me the same feeling as reading fantasy books when I was a kid. There’s just this sense of whimsy and joy when it comes to magic and exploring this world, even with the heavier themes that’ll be apparent later.

My Puppet of Desire

Date: 26.5.16 ┆ Type: Manga ┆ Status: completed

For a oneshot manga, I’m really satisfied with its exploration of love and obsession. A closet lesbian with a crush on a coworker is operating on insane levels of repression and has found an… interesting outlet. She’s lonely. She’s obsessed. And the way these emotions churn into disgust at the end when Takatsuki fails to live up to the ideal that Sara has created. The scene where Takatsuki stabs her, as if Sara’s love is literally and metaphorically killing her. And in turn, Sara "kills" Takatsuki, both her feelings of love and the act of physically ripping the doll to shreds. Just the emptiness you’re left with.

Strange the Dreamer

Date: 26.5.16 ┆ Type: Book ┆ Status: pg. 68

I’m still pretty early into the story, but worldbuilding has been a standout. The mysteries of Weep, the conlang, the everything. Lazlo is a great protagonist too, passionate and a bit obsessive as a scholar. Really cool. Also, I've clearly read too much rofan/oi because when Thyon was introduced he had all the hallmarks of a love interest, and I was legitmately like "wait is there romance in this book??" But no. This book is not gay, I'm just used to romance tropes lol
